Milwaukee Bucks 2020 NBA Draft: 4 prospects who could have day one impact – Malachi Flynn
Going over to another draft riser, Malachi Flynn brings the kind of playmaking polish that the Bucks are reportedly in search of this offseason.
Coming off a year in which he took home both Mountain West Player of the Year and Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors, Flynn boasts a pedigree of being a fierce competitor and backs it up with an NBA-level skill set.
That all starts with Flynn’s natural ability to lead a team’s offense and pull the strings as a leading focal point, whether as a starter or leading the second unit. Along with that, Flynn’s shotmaking prowess and overall poise are all qualities that will attract teams in need of playmaking and shot creation later in the first round.
That obviously fits the Bucks’ needs to a tee and it all paints the picture of a player that the Bucks would target in the draft from what they have historically valued under general manager Jon Horst. As our own Cody Larson summarized in his profile on the San Diego State product:
"“The elevator pitch for Milwaukee drafting Flynn is rather simple. He fits the team’s on-court mantra, he fits the team’s off-court mantra and biggest of all, he fits the team’s win-now timeline. In many ways, there are not many boxes that Flynn doesn’t hit for what the Bucks have valued from the draft.”"
Whether Flynn’s draft stock trending higher actually leads to him landing a fully guaranteed contract through a first round selection remains to be seen. But Flynn has certainly been among the biggest prospects to benefit from the elongated process this year.
