What is the grade on Torrey Craig’s deal with the Milwaukee Bucks?

Overall, signing Craig for the veteran minimum is a solid deal for the Bucks after losing Matthews, Sterling Brown, and likely Kyle Korver as he mulls retirement. The forward helps fortify their wing depth with an experienced veteran with 33 playoff games under his belt throughout his first three seasons in the NBA.

The subpar 3-point percentage is something to pick at without question, given the team’s heavy reliance on the long ball, but his strong presence on the defensive end of the court makes up for that shortcoming.

The Bucks lost one of their better defensive players after the departure of Matthews, and his skill on that side of the ball would not be easy to replace. However, Craig is an ideal fit to fill that vacancy, given his defensive versatility. Milwaukee was also able to scoop him off the open market on the veteran minimum, a substantial bonus as the Bucks face cap constraints that currently prevent them from filling out their entire 15-man roster going into training camp.

The soon to be 30-year-old will likely see plenty of action with the Bucks in big situations and hopefully has some moments that will resonate for years to come. Only time will tell, but at the moment, this is a fantastic on-impact signing for the Bucks.
