How the Milwaukee Bucks can limit RJ Barrett

RJ Barrett started the season red-hot against the Pacers as he scored 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor, which included 3-of-3 from long distance. The second-year guard looked fantastic, but he did not exactly follow that up with a strong performance Saturday night against the 76ers.

The 20-year-old scored just 10 points and shot 2-for-15 from the field and 0-of-6 from behind the arc. It was not Barrett’s night by any stretch of the imagination, and a substantial reasoning for that was Defensive Player of the Year hopeful and 76ers forward Ben Simmons. Simmons ensured that Barrett would have his work cut out for him all night, which helped propel Philadelphia to a comfortable 109-89 win Saturday night.

Now, the Bucks will have to follow that same blueprint and limit Barrett offensively to hope for a similar result. Luckily for them, the Bucks have a defensive-minded backcourt consisting of Jrue Holiday and Donte DiVincenzo that can do just that, alongside the likes of Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

If the Bucks can limit Barrett offensively with toughened defense, it will be a game-changer in their first game at Madison Square Garden this season. Barrett will undoubtedly be looking to get back on the right track following his letdown against Philadelphia, and Milwaukee must do their part to keep him contained.
