Milwaukee Bucks: What’s trending through first two weeks of season
The Milwaukee Bucks’ new ‘Big 3’ has been a rising trend to start the season
The Bucks’ high-profile offseason was all led by the acquisition of Jrue Holiday. While the Bucks have had growing pains and the price that gave up to get him was nothing short of significant, Holiday has shown why he was the upgrade the Bucks needed to make at the point guard position.
From the Bucks’ season opening loss to the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee’s leading trio has acted as a consistent hub of productivity. That’s all been led by the fact that they have combined to score 48.3 percent of the Bucks’ 747 total points scored on the season.
With the production from the Bucks’ overhauled bench unit mirroring the team’s ups and downs as a whole, the Bucks’ ‘Big 3’ has given the team a good jumping off point at this stage in the season.
As Middleton has gone on to a hot start and Antetokounmpo is still finding his way to his MVP-like form, Holiday has snugly fit between the two and given a different dimension to the Bucks than what was seen with Eric Bledsoe in the fold. Through his first six Bucks games, Holiday has averaged 15.5 points on .507/.406/1.000 shooting, 5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Holiday’s poise and two-way production has been quite the refresher as the Bucks try to bring together and fully integrate their star acquisition and many changes on the periphery.
While the Bucks will always find their direction when Antetokounmpo is at his best, having the likes of Holiday and Middleton pick up the torch and stabilize things when the MVP is out of sorts wasn’t always the case over the last two seasons. We’ll see how that stands the further along we get into the season.
