Milwaukee Bucks: What’s trending through first two weeks of season
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s free throws has been a falling trend.
After shooting a career-worst 63.3 percent from the free throw line last season, Antetokounmpo made a point to raise his efficiency going into this season.
While the two-time MVP played coy about changing up his free throw routine as a way of sorting out his his struggles from the line last year, he did reveal he had changed up his form and rhythm over the offseason.
But through his first six games on the year, the efforts Antetokounmpo made in trying to be improve his free throw proficiency hasn’t come through as he’s 38-for-63 on the year, a mark of 60.3 percent.
Much more concerning is that Antetokounmpo has seemingly changed up his approach when going to the charity stripe, which repeats the same cycle we’ve gone through last season.
Perhaps this is all just the new normal we’ll have to get used to when it comes to this specific part of Antetokounmpo’s game. But given that he’s averaging 10.5 free throw attempts per game over his 30.8 minutes of game action thus far, Antetokounmpo has to stick through his new-look routine to get the result he and Bucks fans want to see from him in this regard.
