Reason no. 1 – Brook’s improved shooting from 3-point range

For the majority of the Bucks’ run during the 2019-20 season, before the season shutdown and their arrival to the bubble, Lopez had been mired in a lengthy shooting slump.

No less than a year before where he had fully optimized the Bucks’ five-out offensive system, Lopez’s offensive effectiveness was dulled by his misfiring from long distance. After trying to incorporate more looks in the post to raise his offensive abilities to shake him out of his extended cold spell, the layoff between the season shutdown and the bubble helped Lopez find his range again.

That has carried into this season as he’s now shooting 26-for-74 from beyond the arc, good for 35.1 percent. In fact, Lopez has never shot better on catch-and-shoot 3-point attempts over his time in Milwaukee as he’s gone 24-for-67 (35.8 percent) on such shots to start the year.

It’s certainly good to see Lopez have such great success from behind the 3-point line as he’s been more reliant on the 3-ball for his overall scoring compared to last season, as evidenced by his 63.8 3-point attempt rate.

Whatever the cause was for Lopez’s extensive shooting slide last season, it has fortunately not resurfaced for almost as long as it had existed. And if the veteran big man can continue filling it up from three, it will only fortify the Bucks’ league-leading offense as the season goes along.
