Grading Bobby Portis’ growing stint with the Milwaukee Bucks

Last but certainly not least, there have been plenty of reasons for Bobby Portis to flex so far into his time with the Bucks.

Portis has quickly solidified himself as the Bucks’ leading scorer from the bench by averaging 10.9 points on .547/.429/.722 shooting splits, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists over his 22.9 minutes per contest. And over his 14 appearances, Portis has managed to crack double digits in 10 of those games,

As he’s found his niche on the Bucks’ spark plug, Portis is in the process of rejuvenating himself as an offensive-minded center. Portis’ defensive limitations have been clear as day, especially when dropping back more in front of the basket, but his active hands and productive rebounding ability has stood out to mitigate his defensive concerns.

The sixth-year forward has never been more efficient, but like Forbes, Portis’ impact and scoring has dramatically decreased against equal or greater opponents. With those two being the bellwether for how the Bucks’ bench will do on a given night, we’ll have to continue following that as the season goes along.
