Third key against New Orleans Pelicans – Milwaukee Bucks light it up from 3-point range

Considering that the Bucks have been the torch bearers in allowing a league-leading amount of threes over the last two seasons, they may appear to finally meet their match on this front.

The Pelicans are allowing a league-leading 41.6 3-point attempts per game to their opponents. Going up against a Bucks team that has been letting it fly better than they have been at any point in the Budenholzer era, the Pelicans could have a tough team trying to cover the many shooting threats the Bucks will roll out, especially as they stand as the best offense in the league.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, has stayed consistent with letting the opposition launch up any and all looks they generate. Their 115-108 victory over the Raptors Wednesday night saw Toronto can a season-high 22 makes on their 55 attempts from beyond the arc.

With the Pelicans, though, the Bucks won’t be tested with a New Orleans team that is that dangerous from 3-point range as they’re collectively shooting 33.7 from that range of the floor, the fourth-worst mark of all NBA teams. Even some of the Pelicans’ best shooters, such as J.J. Redick, has been mired in a nasty shooting slump as the veteran sharpshooter is averaging 7.9 points per game on .336/.298/1.000 shooting splits to start the season.

Of course, Redick’s historic shooting prowess will still remain a threat, no matter his current shooting percentages. But it’s clear that New Orleans as a whole isn’t pulling their weight when it comes to making opposing teams pay from deep this year.

The Bucks’ meeting with the Pelicans will tip off at 6:30 p.m central time Friday night and you can catch the action on ESPN where it will be nationally broadcasted or on Fox Sports Wisconsin for those living locally.
