Milwaukee Bucks: 3 keys to victory in rematch against Cleveland Cavaliers
Second key to victory against Cavaliers – Milwaukee Bucks shake off shooting struggles
It’s a good thing that the Bucks found their way to the paint so many times Friday night as they did not enjoy much success from outside the arc.
Having gone 7-for-22 from 3-point range in that 18-point victory over the Cavaliers, the Bucks dodged quite the bullet as attempting a season-low amount of 3-point attempts would often spell disaster for this Bucks team.
Of course, some of that can be due to the hectic and eventful travel day that followed the Bucks before they eventually departed for Cleveland Friday morning. By flying in the day of the start of a 10-day road trip that will span for both coasts, it’s very easy to understand why the Bucks had such trouble finding their usual rhythm and comfort from long range.
For all of the focus held on the Bucks’ 3-point defense this season, Cleveland is susceptible to high-level shooting nights from their opponents as they’re allowing 39.1 percent from three this season. That ranks just ahead of the Bucks and is the fourth-worst mark in the league.
However, Cleveland is one of the better teams in limiting deep looks from three, the very ones the Bucks have specialized in hitting to spread the floor in their offensive system Cavaliers. Yet their opponents are hitting 38 percent on above the break threes for the season.
Whether Milwaukee will be able to crack the code and find their comfort from three now having settled into their road trip remains to be seen, but it will be key in holding off the Cavs for the third time this season.
