Third key to victory against Utah Jazz — Milwaukee Bucks must keep Utah’s guards in check

In the first matchup of the season, the Bucks had no answer whatsoever to Utah’s leading trio of guards. Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley Jr., and Jordan Clarkson combined to score an astounding 75 points and shot 28-of-56 from the floor (14-of-31 from behind the arc), making Milwaukee’s defenders look like a deer in headlights in the process.

This time around, the Bucks must do their part defensively to keep these three at bay, and that is no easy task. Especially as they’ll still be without Jrue Holiday, who has missed Milwaukee’s last two games due to the league’s health and safety protocols, and he will likely miss his third consecutive matchup tonight in Utah.

After seeing how the Bucks handled Phoenix’s backcourt defensively without Holiday Wednesday night, being without him for this game spells trouble. The Suns’ top tandem of Devin Booker and Chris Paul scored a combined 58 points on the night as the Bucks failed to slow either down, no matter who they threw at them defensively. Typically, Holiday would take on the responsibility for one of them, but, of course, he was not there.

Without Holiday in the lineup, things get far more challenging for the Bucks on both ends, and they will be put to the test against a red-hot Jazz team.
