Third key to victory versus Timberwolves — Milwaukee Bucks slow down Karl-Anthony Towns

It has no doubt been a precarious season for the Timberwolves, but they still have a special talent in Karl-Anthony Towns, who certainly been in fine form since returning to action after having COVID-19.

The two-time All-Star has been averaging 22 points on .548/.444/.923 shooting splits, along with 10.4 rebounds and 3 assists since returning on February 10.

Now as the Wolves continue to be without D’Angelo Russell and have gotten plenty of contributions from Malik Beasley, it’s Towns who shoulders an incredible load. And will surely be atop of the Bucks’ scouting report going into Tuesday night’s meeting.

The fact that Towns is such an accomplished scorer from all three levels makes him a tough guard and very capable of testing the Bucks’ defensive abilities and drop-back scheme specifically. From that standpoint, Budenholzer may look to different tactics to slow down Towns and his usage of Bucks center Brook Lopez has increasingly been fascinating to follow, especially as Lopez’s minutes have grown more erratic as the season has gone on.

With Finch looking to put Towns at the center of everything the Wolves do moving forward, we’ll get out first glimpses of how that looks going into tonight’s game.
