Third buy low trade deadline candidate for the Milwaukee Bucks to consider: James Ennis III

Speaking along the lines of defense and 3-point shooting, another player that would fit the bill for the Milwaukee Bucks is James Ennis III of the Orlando Magic. As mentioned by my colleague and fellow site expert Jordan Treske, Ennis makes sense for Milwaukee for a handful of reasons.

The veteran is having a career-year in Orlando by averaging 7.3 points on a .500/.447/.786 slash line, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Another 6’6″ forward, Ennis provides a presence defensively that could be useful to match up against sizeable opposing players. Throw that in with his expiring $3.3 million salary for this season, and contending teams like the Bucks will surely make a run at the forward before the deadline.

The biggest question that arises is exactly what the Magic plan to do at the trade deadline. They have been decimated by injuries this season, currently sitting at 14th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 13-25 record. With this season slowly becoming a wash, it would make sense for them to at least take trade calls for several key pieces, but it seems that they are reluctant to do so.

Ennis is certainly not as valuable as a piece as Nikola Vucevic or Aaron Gordon in a trade, so perhaps the team could be more open to dealing him specifically. Set to enter free agency after this season, the Magic could ship off the veteran in exchange for a younger player that better fits their circumstances and a future draft pick as a sweetener.

Ellington, House, and Ennis would all be solid additions for the Bucks before the trade deadline, but time will tell if they can get any deals done.
