How do the Milwaukee Bucks’ assets compare to the Boston Celtics?

It clearly hasn’t been the season that the Boston Celtics envisioned, especially after having reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in four years last season.

With a 20-19 record that has them standing as the sixth seed in the East and a half game up from the play-in zone, all sorts of trade talk have surrounded the Celtics as they look to address their many issues. In fact, much of that buzz revolved around the Celtics’ interest in Bjelica’s teammate, Harrison Barnes, whose $22.2 million salary fits within Boston’s massive $28.5 trade exception.

While that buzz will certainly intensify in the days leading up to the trade deadline, their interest in Bjelica certainly seems like a backup plan, depending on their willingness to use their trade exception.

Boston’s draft assets is still quite rich as they own all of their first round picks for the foreseeable future and the same goes for the trove of second round picks as well. Additionally, they have a number of young, cost-controlled prospects like Carsen Edwards, Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith that could suit the Kings’ fancy if they wanted a player in return for Bjelica.

While they have the assets and pieces to make a move in order to upgrade their roster, it remains to be seen whether the Celtics are willing to part with any of their assets for a quick remedy in what’s been a very underwhelming year so far.
