Third takeaway from P.J. Tucker’s first media appearance  with Milwaukee Bucks — He believes roster will up his production

It should not be overlooked that Tucker is currently having one of his least productive NBA seasons offensively. Averaging 4.4 points on .366/.314/.783 shooting splits, the forward had failed to make relatively any impact during his brief time with Houston.

However, he believes he can turn that around in Milwaukee with the talent on their roster. One player that Tucker specifically detailed was Giannis Antetokounmpo, comparing the playmaking and attention that he draws offensively to former teammate James Harden:

"“If you look at my attempts, I haven’t really shot the ball, I haven’t really played a lot of minutes.  You know, not a lot of great basketball, it’s been a frustrating year from all standpoints. When one of the best players in the league, and one of the best playmakers in the league leaves, you think your shots are going to go down, your percentages are going to go down.” James makes the game so easy, kind of like Giannis, where you don’t have to take as tough of shots. You’re getting better passes, it changes the game. That’s why they’re the best. I look to just play my role and do what I do.”"

As Tucker alluded to, the gravity that Antetokounmpo commands when he has the ball in his hands is beyond measurable, forcing him to get his teammates more involved than ever before. The two-time MVP has adapted accordingly, improving his playmaking prowess significantly this season by averaging a career-high 6.2 assists per game.

Now, the Greek Freak has another threat on the offensive end in one of the best corner 3-point shooters in league history. Hitting 38.9 percent of his shots from both corners over the previous three seasons, Tucker will serve as a reliable shooter waiting for his chance to hoist the triple.

Playing alongside ball handlers like Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jure Holiday should undoubtedly bump his percentages up a few ticks with the open looks he will likely get.
