Milwaukee Bucks: Three stars of the week as win streak rises to six games
Pat Connaughton is the Milwaukee Bucks’ third star of the week
As we turn our attention to the Bucks’ bench for the third star of the week, it’s hard not to go with reserve wing Pat Connaughton.
That’s especially so after his catalyzing efforts in the Bucks’ overtime win against the 76ers where he pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds while playing a season-high 34 minutes on the night. Over the Bucks’ three wins, Connaughton averaged 6.3 points while shooting 7-for-13 from the field (53.8 percent), 3-for-8 from deep (37.5 percent), 6.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 30.8 minutes per contest.
With his improvements shooting 39 percent from 3-point range on a career-high volume, Connaughton has fulfilled his 3-and-D role for the Bucks, especially after earning his three-year, $16 million deal last offseason. And as the Bucks’ roster continues to change on the margins, the need to have a high-effort wing may be a point of emphasis as the Bucks have tow open roster spots going into the trade deadline.
Right now, though, Connaughton is holding down the fort and he has been a solid contributor as the Bucks have changed their approach and altered their system, which has only accentuated Connaughton’s effectiveness.
We’ll be back again this time next week to hand out our three stars of the week and hopefully the Milwaukee Bucks will continue to add to their longest winning streak of the season.
