The Atlanta Hawks meeting the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round would give plenty of storylines

There’s no question the Bucks meeting the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs would give no shortage of storylines to follow. Whether it’d be Mike Budenholzer facing up against his former squad or the whole Bogdan Bogdanovic saga being rehashed under the playoff spotlight.

With all of that said, it’s a longer shot to see the Bucks go up against the Hawks, especially if the standings were to stay the same the rest of the way. The Hawks currently stand fifth in the East and have a 37-31 record. Along with that, the Hawks have the easiest schedule remaining of all NBA teams over the final week, per Tankathon.

Considering both of those factors, it’s hard to envision such a slide occurring for an Atlanta side that is getting healthier and have continued their surge since appointing interim head coach Nate McMillian. To that point, the Hawks have a 5.3 percent chance to finish sixth in the East, which is the most likely pathway that both teams would meet up against each other.

And as much as we’d like to look back on the Bucks taking their season series with the Hawks, it has to be considered that Atlanta was missing several big players in each one of those three matchups.

Clearly, the ball is in the Hawks’ court to finish off the season in the right way and to avoid from meeting up against the Bucks in the first round. Whether they will do just that remains to be seen and the same proves true of the Bucks finish second in the East.
