The Milwaukee Bucks have a slim chance to face the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs

While it’s still mathematically possible, the Atlanta Hawks are making sure that they won’t see the Bucks going into the start of the playoffs.

At 40-31 and currently standing fourth in the East, the Hawks hold a 2.9 percent chance of tumbling back down to sixth place with just one game left to play, that coming versus the Houston Rockets.

Two things are currently working in their favor to avoid that happening, which is winning the Southeast division title and having the tiebreaker over the Heat, However, the Hawks don’t have the tiebreaker over the Knicks after dropping the season series with New York. All the Hawks have to do in order to avoid this doomsday scenario is simply beat the Rockets Sunday evening.

While it’s very much a longshot that both Milwaukee and Atlanta will square off against one another in the playoffs, the Hawks still holds the cards and will be able to influence the Bucks’ playoff path going into the final weekend. And for Bucks fans hoping for the easier path possible (i.e. not going up against the Heat), a Hawks win will help make that so under most cases.

Time will only tell how this will all shake out with all of these scenarios in play, but I’m sure all Bucks fans will be turning to more than just Milwaukee’s final pair of regular season games.
