Milwaukee Bucks: Running through final day seeding scenarios
The Milwaukee Bucks face the New York Knicks in the playoffs if…
As they have surged to clinch their first playoff berth in eight years, the New York Knicks stand directly in the middle of what goes down on the final day of the regular season.
The Knicks certainly added more stakes to the frenzied finish by taking a a 116-109 overtime victory over the Charlotte Hornets Saturday afternoon. The combination of the Knicks’ win and Miami falling in Milwaukee now leads the Knicks to stand in fifth place and a full game up on the Heat. And going into the final day of the season, New York has a 23.7 percent chance to finish with the sixth seed.
Due to the Heat having the tiebreaker on the Knicks, though, being able to finish off their regular season on a high note is a must for a New York that wants to stay standing as the fifth seed. They’ll have to do so by hosting the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden, who are playing on the second day of a back-to-back following their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With the Celtics locked in as the seventh seed and set to play in the play-in tournament Tuesday night, we may see them rest what is left of their top players. Both Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart did rest for the Celtics’ win over the Timberwolves Saturday while Jayson Tatum and Evan Fournier did not.
Boston has nothing to play for and the Knicks have everything to play for still and there’s no question New York’s dream of continuing an incredibly surprising season would be made better by avoiding the Bucks altogether.
With so much at stake on the final day of the regular season, all Milwaukee Bucks fans will be interesting to see how the day unfolds around the league.
