The Milwaukee Bucks must bring physicality to Game 6 vs. Nets

With their backs against the wall, the Bucks can’t hold back whatsoever with their season on the line. And that’s certainly relevant in how they have to regain the physical gritty tone that helped them make this a series to begin with.

Of course, various Bucks players had to battle with foul trouble all game long, something that Bucks guard Jrue Holiday complained about after the Bucks’ Game 5 collapse according to Marc Berman of the New York Post:

"“I think calls helped [Durant],’’ Holiday said after the Bucks’ 114-108 defeat put them in a 3-2 hole heading into Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Thursday in Milwaukee. “Obviously he got into a groove. What, he played 48 minutes — the whole game. By the end of the game, I had three fouls. Tuck [P.J. Tucker] had five. Giannis [Antetokounmpo] had six, Brook [Lopez] had four. Khris [Middleton] had four. It gets hard.’’"

There’s no question things got a little tighter in terms of foul calls, but it didn’t do all that much to sink the Bucks throughout the first half. Then as Durant got plenty comfortable scoring 31 points over the second half, the Bucks had no answer to stop or even deter the shots he was dropping from all over the floor. That is when the Bucks were in position to defend Durant to begin with.

Holiday talked about mucking up the series earlier following the Bucks’ Game 3 win and they will need all of that grittiness and then some to stop the Durant-led Nets. With nothing else to lose and the Nets still hobbled, Milwaukee has to dictate the tone and the proceedings throughout Game 6.
