Austin Rivers could be a suitable replacement for the Milwaukee Bucks if Bryn Forbes leaves

While there was plenty of smoke between the two parties around the time of this season’s trade deadline, nothing came to fruition between the Bucks and Austin Rivers.

Milwaukee will have another chance to sniff out Rivers’ market as he re-enters free agency after splitting time between the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets. Across both New York and Denver, Rivers averaged 7.9 points on .424/.369/.710 shooting, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 36 appearances.

Rivers is far from the skilled shooter that Forbes is, though Rivers makes that up by offering up more size, defensive versatility and an ability to create shots within the framework of the Bucks’ offense.

Whether Rivers can improve on his streaky shooting remains to be seen, but he offers a little more two-way value that the Bucks will certainly need in their backcourt, especially on Forbes’ role.
