Jordan Nwora making strides defensively could earn him a spot in the lineup for the Milwaukee Bucks

Throughout his days at the collegiate level and his first year with the Bucks, one of the most prominent concerns with Nwora has been his play on the defensive end.

Many scouting reports highlighted his shortcomings on the defense such as his lack of speed and his inability to be impactful in one-on-one situations. Perhaps this played a part in him sliding so far down the draft board to the Bucks at 45. Yet, those concerns followed Nwora into the NBA, and while they have been a bit overblown to some degree, his defense did need work if he was looking to crack the rotation in a team that is so defensive-oriented like the Bucks.

Understanding this, many were excited to see if the 22-year-old could take some strides on that side of things, and he looked far more comfortable in his Summer League debut. While it is always important to keep a level head over just one Summer League contest, the forward looked far more comfortable on that side of things, showing newfound promise. Of course, it will be more telling as the games pile up, but if Nwora has indeed improved on the defensive end, it would undoubtedly bode well for his chance to earn some minutes next season.

His offense is enough to already have fans clamoring for the soon-to-be sophomore to get regular minutes, but if his defense is up to par also, it will be hard to deny him time.
