Goal No. 3 – Brook Lopez could target being the NBA’s 2021-22 Block Leader with the Milwaukee Bucks

Circling back to Lopez’s defensive aspirations this coming season, cementing himself as the league leader in blocks will be a tall order, but one he should look to achieve.

The big man finished third in total blocked shots during the 2018-19 season by totaling 179 and earned a second-place finish during the 2019-20 season with 163, trailing Hassan Whiteside with 196. Those consecutive top-three finishes were a display of his pristine shot-blocking ability, and although he would take a sizeable step backward last season by finishing in seventh place with 103 total, he is still a towering threat down low.

Entering his fourth season with the Bucks, Lopez should not only shoot for a top-three finish in total blocked shots, but he should have his sights set on the top spot. Despite the list of names that will also be in the conversation, this is an achievable goal for Lopez. While Budenholzer may continue experimenting, the Bucks will likely keep a focus on protecting the rim, which is the big man’s calling card. Achieving this feat would also certainly help Lopez get consideration for the first goal on this list as it pertains to earning his second All-Defensive nod, but only time will tell.
