Ranking the 2021-22 Milwaukee Bucks — No. 1: Giannis Antetokounmpo

As if there would be any doubt, Giannis Antetokounmpo is unquestionably the best player on the Bucks entering the 2021-22 NBA season. The reigning Finals MVP just had one of the greatest performances in the Finals in league history, and he certainly has no plans of slowing down just yet after finally delivering on his promise to bring Milwaukee a championship.

The scary thing is, at 26-years-old, Antetokounmpo still has room to grow as a player as he enters his prime years. With his unmatched work ethic, the Greek Freak has continuously worked in each offseason to improve his game, and the results speak for themselves. Many will point to the fact that he still does not have a reliable outside jumper, and while that is a clear-cut fact, he continues to tune up other areas like his playmaking and defense. He will not magically have a 3-point shot equipped in his arsenal next season, but another offseason will help him get better elsewhere.

There is no ceiling on Antetokounmpo right now. Not only is he the best player on the Bucks, but he might be the best basketball player on the planet right now. It would be hard to argue after seeing him chip in 50 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots in Milwaukee’s Game 6 win over the Phoenix Suns to clinch their first title in five decades. Time will tell if he can hold that stature throughout next season, but he will not give up that title easily.

Of course, an encore of last season would certainly help bolster his case in that regard.
