Milwaukee Bucks: Analyzing each position heading into 2021-22 season – Conclusion

It’s not every day that you see the defending champs enter a new season flying under the radar, but here we are. The Lakers and Nets are understandably garnering a large amount of attention at the national level, but if the Bucks can maintain their defensive identity they might just be in the mix to run it back.

While I don’t think that the Bucks are markedly better, the argument can be made that they’re a deeper roster than a year ago. Yes, PJ Tucker is gone and his size and toughness will be sorely missed. But the additions of Grayson Allen and George Hill should not be overlooked. Allen and Hill should both contribute and strengthen the overall rotation once everyone is healthy and available.

That being said I’m not sure this is a better post-season team, and that’s what matters. The Bucks shouldn’t have a problem running through the regular season with this group and earning a higher seed in the east. The Bucks can and likely will make an in-season move to improve the roster, but as it stands I think this group will need to see some internal growth from a few players to be better than a year ago.

Overall, I think the Bucks had a good, but not great off-season. They managed to get creative despite their limited options financially and keep the Bucks in the discussion as a true title contender.
