Milwaukee Bucks: 3 massive wild cards for 2021-22 NBA season
By Dalton Sell
Jordan Nwora will be a wild card for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021-22
Many Bucks fans will argue that Jordan Nwora is the biggest wild card on this list. Some have said that the 23-year-old is a player that could play around 15-20 minutes nightly, but others believe he should not see the light of day and stay on the bench. The topic has drawn mixed options from everyone, and it will be compelling to see what role he plays, if any, during his sophomore season in Milwaukee.
The appeal with Nwora is front and center with his 3-point shooting. The forward was an elite shooter at the collegiate level, and he showed glimpses of something similar during his rookie season with the Bucks. The most prominent issue was that his minutes were never consistent enough to prove that he could do it on a nightly basis. Most of his playing time came when the game had already been decided or when the Bucks were resting most of their roster. Still, if the Bucks are looking for sharpshooting off the bench this season in the absence of Bryn Forbes, Nwora could be the perfect man for the job.
The uncertainties with the 23-year-old revolve around practically every other aspect of his game. Nwora has been known to struggle defensively, which is problematic for a defensive-minded unit like the Bucks under Mike Budenholzer. Offensively, his passing could use some work as he tallied just seven assists in 274 minutes this past season. All eyes were glued to Nwora as he made his Summer League debut with the Bucks a few months ago, and the results were mixed. There were times when he looked like a ready-made contributor for the Bucks, while other times he struggled mightily. No one knows where he would currently land on the spectrum.
Nwora is still young, so there is room to develop. However, it is no secret that he has the potential to help the Bucks right now, and he could be their biggest breakout candidate for 2021-22.
Perhaps the upcoming preseason could help give fans a better look at Nwora and how he has developed over the offseason for the Milwaukee Bucks.
