The Milwaukee Bucks would use the 2021 preseason to give their newcomers and younger pieces more meaningful playing time to see what they bring to the table.
Following their first three games, it seems safe to say that there have been several standouts for the Bucks in the preseason. While they are just 1-2 in these games, the individual performances from a select group of players have provided some optimism. In particular, three select players have earned their share of attention, and understandably so as they have all raised their stock when it comes to evaluating them. With that being said, let us take a closer look at the trio.
Grayson Allen has stood out for the Milwaukee Bucks in preseason
Fans have been mixed about the team’s decision to trade for Grayson Allen this past offseason, but everyone should be warming up to him after his play in the preseason thus far.
Appearing in two of the three games, Allen has averaged 13 points while shooting 55.6 percent on his field-goal attempts and 46.2 percent on his triples. He has looked comfortable on the offensive end on all levels, but his outside shooting has particularly looked fantastic. Although two games is a small sample size, Allen has shown confidence by heaving 6.5 triples on average. The Bucks will need him to display that willingness to let it fly in the regular season, where he will likely be their starting shooting guard.
The Bucks rolled out last year’s starters in Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Jrue Holiday in their third game Sunday night, where Allen joined them. He looked like he was right at home with those four, making several highlight-level plays on both ends of the floor, one being his authoritative one-handed dunk and another being a massive blocked shot. The Bucks would commandingly win 130-110 against the OKC Thunder, and Allen’s energetic play early on helped set the tone.
Although it is the preseason, the first returns on seeing Allen in action have been largely positive. He should be a key contributor for the Bucks this coming season, and if his play throughout these first two games is any indication of things to come, everyone should be excited. Badger fans, it is time to let go of the animosity and embrace Allen as a Buck.
