The Milwaukee Bucks may have struck gold through the 2021 NBA Draft. Second-round pick Sandro Mamukelashvili has the potential to contribute in his rookie season in 2021-22. His name might not be easy to pronounce, but the Bucks have experience in that arena (see Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo).

The 2021 Big East Player of the Year was selected by Milwaukee in the second round in the draft, so many would think Mamukelashvili would not have many chances to earn minutes in the rotation. Despite those assumptions, the new fan-favorite possesses unique skills and size (6’10”) that can be fun to watch while he adjusts to playing in the NBA.

In the first preseason game, Mamukelashvili has shown glimpses of what he can offer this coming season. Against Brooklyn, he threw down a dunk so hard that it made Nets broadcaster Ian Eagle exclaim: “Big finish, big last name!”

Along with the poster, Mamukelashvili scored in a variety of ways. He utilized a spin move at the rim to score over a few defenders, while also placing a turn-around jumper off the glass to earn an and-one.

Will Sandro Mamukelashvili have a significant role with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021-22?

Moving closer to the regular season, Mamukelashvili might not be able to have too many minutes on the floor, considering that Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis, and Semi Ojeleye occupy the other power forward spots. That does not mean that he cannot learn some things from other players during his first year. Let’s take a look at three Bucks players that he can look at for inspiration moving forward in the early stages of his career.
