Excluding the turnovers, Jrue Holiday looks sharp in his return to the lineup in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win over San Antonio Spurs

Jrue Holiday went down in Milwaukee’s season opener with a heel contusion and then missed the next game against Miami entirely to recover. It was clear that the Bucks missed Holiday’s presence in that blowout loss to Miami, and it was refreshing to hear that he would be back in the lineup as he had been cleared to return against San Antonio.

The veteran was given nearly 25-and-a-half minutes of action before he was pulled to manage his minutes, and he made the most of every second. Holiday looked like he had not missed a beat as he scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including an impressive 3-of-4 from long range. Whether he was attacking the basket or shooting stepback triples, it was a welcoming sign to see Holiday remain aggressive, hopefully signaling that this heel contusion will not be a lingering issue. Along with his own scoring, Holiday created for his teammates and dished out five assists.

Although Holiday’s return to the starting lineup was largely positive, the biggest downside was his five turnovers. After suffering this heel injury, there was expected to be some rust from Holiday, so this should not have been all that surprising. It is not like Holiday was the only Buck with turnover issues also, as the team collectively logged 20 total. Aside from that, it was great to see Holiday back out on the floor, given how important he is for the Bucks on both ends of the floor.
