Reason No. 3 – It’s a long, long season for the Milwaukee Bucks

Last season, the Bucks were just 3-3 through their first six games, 11-8 through 19 games, and 16-13 through 29 games. And this was with a healthy team for almost all of those games. They still went on to be a top 3 seed in the East and win the title, and it is clear that the focus should be on the long-term rather than simply winning as many regular season games as possible. Right now, the focus is on experimenting with different things and working towards becoming comfortable later down the road.

As with most seasons, there are new players who need to get acclimated to the team, and it takes time to gel. Last year, there were several players (Holiday, Portis, Forbes) who needed to get integrated into the system, and there were some growing pains. This year, Allen and Ojeleye have had some offensive struggles in their first year with the team.

These things take time. A championship team does not always play like one from beginning to end, especially if they are as injured as the Bucks have been so far this season. In the end, it is about being ready for the playoff run at the end of the season and playing your best basketball when it matters, which is exactly what the Bucks did last season.

Once the Bucks get healthy, start hitting their open shots, and the new players get comfortable, they should return to championship form. Nobody should be worried about the defending champions.
