The Milwaukee Bucks struggle mightily to put points on the scoreboard

With several regulars out of the rotation due to injures and other issues, the Bucks have had a difficult time trying to gel. One of the biggest areas that this has been noticeable in has been on the offensive end, where they struggled mightily in the loss against the Wizards.

After four quarters, the Bucks had 94 points on 94 field goal attempts. No, that stat is not a typo. The team shot a gruesome 37-of-94 (39.4 percent) from the floor and 10-of-36 (27.8 percent) on their 3-pointers, struggling all night to buy a bucket with consistency. One could tell that it was set to be a tough shooting night when Milwaukee started 0-of-6 from the field before the game’s first timeout was called.

The only Buck that truly had any semblance of an efficient night was Grayson Allen, who continues to impress early on. Allen finished with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, 3-of-7 from long distance, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He has proven to be a bright spot for Milwaukee as they endure these roster issues, which continued last night.

There were several performances that contributed to the sluggish night offensively, including one from Bobby Portis, who was promoted into the starting five. The big man finished with 13 points on 17 shot attempts, having struggled to find the bottom of the net. Pat Connaughton joined him in that category by chipping in just seven points on 2-of-8 shooting. Holiday also struggled in his second game back in action by tallying 14 points on 16 shot attempts as he is still looking to find his groove after a slew of injuries.

Of course, the Bucks’ offense will suffer when they are missing pieces like Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez. Middleton is one of the smoothest three-level scorers in the game and Lopez is a solid scoring threat down low and on the perimeter. The team will continue to struggle without them, but 94 points on 94 shot attempts is just downright awful. Getting the wheels turning on offense from the jump will surely be a primary focus next game.
