After a year off, the Wisconsin Herd, G-League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, have returned to action for the 2021-22 season.

Before the season began, it was clear that this team was star-studded with talented names top to bottom. Assembling the roster with familiar faces and some household names, there were several players worth keeping an eye on throughout the season. The Herd have not disappointed thus far as they are off to a perfect 3-0 start, with a handful of specific players standing out early. With all that being said, here are three players impressing early for the Herd.

Former Milwaukee Bucks Summer Leaguer Rayjon Tucker has been impressive for the Wisconsin Herd early on

Rayjon Tucker is among the returning faces for the Herd this season, as he previously suited up for the team back in 2019. Tucker was solid during his first stint with the Herd, having earned himself a standard NBA deal from the Utah Jazz. Following a brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2020-21 season, Tucker rejoined the Herd in October of this year.

Throughout three games, the combo guard is playing like he never left by averaging 21.3 points and 3.3 assists per contest. Tucker’s strongest attribute is his prolific scoring ability, which he is showing early on by leading the team in points per game. The man is a certified scorer, which he proved on opening night as he sunk the Cleveland Charge with a game-winning bucket to start the new season off with a bang.

Tucker’s offense will always be his main draw, but he has proven to be a pest defensively as well by tallying an eye-popping eight steals across three games. This has been a massive boost for the Herd as Tucker continues to showcase that he can contribute on both ends of the floor on a nightly basis. Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old also leads the team in minutes with 31.9 on average as he continues to lead the charge for the Herd.

The two biggest flaws with Tucker to this point have been his 3-point shooting and his turnovers. Despite being an electric scorer, most of Tucker’s damage has come from inside the arc as he is a measly 5-of-16 (31.2 percent) on 3-pointers this season. Tucker also leads the team with a brutal 12 turnovers in the early going. Still, despite these two flaws, the guard has certainly turned some heads in a good way throughout these first two games, and he will continue to do so.

If he continues playing at a high level like this, Tucker could be on his way to earning a standard NBA deal down the line once again.
