Milwaukee Bucks: 3 worrying stats from Rodney Hood after 14 games
By Lucas Valind
The Milwaukee Bucks made a couple of moves this offseason to try to help their chances of repeating as NBA Champions.
One of the moves that they made was signing Rodney Hood. While the Hood signing may not have been the most notable of their additions, the potential was there from the beginning for the veteran to be a key contributor. However, he still has had a very rough start to his Bucks career. Through the team’s first 14 games, here are three worrying stats that stand out from Hood.
No. 1 – Rodney Hood is shooting 32.1 percent from the field through 14 games for Milwaukee Bucks
Hood is off to a very slow shooting start this season. Throughout 14 games, Hood’s shooting percentage from the floor currently stands at 32.1 percent. Inefficient shooting is never going to be helpful for a team, and that remains true with Hood.
Hood suffered a torn Achilles during the 2019-2020 season and has not been the same since. The swingman’s career shooting percentage is 42.1 percent. However, he has not been nearly as productive in shooting efficiency since the injury. Last year, Hood struggled, shooting 36.2 percent from the field. This season, the numbers have only gotten worse, as his 32.1 percent field goal shooting is the worst mark of his career by far. Whether it be from a lack of confidence or something else, Hood will certainly have to make a higher percentage of his shots if he wants to be an important piece for the Bucks moving forward.
When the team made the move to add Hood, they likely had better things in mind. One would be led to believe that Milwaukee saw Hood’s return season as a fluke and that he would recapture his prior form this season. So far, that has not been the case for the Bucks. The good news is that the season is still young and there is plenty of time for Hood to turn it around. The slow start for Hood has been very disappointing for those who liked the signing, though.
