While the Milwaukee Bucks have struggled this year, the Wisconsin Herd, their G-League affiliate, have been firing on all cylinders to kick off the 2021-22 season.
With players such as Rayjon Tucker and Tremont Waters contributing in big ways, the Herd have rattled off three straight victories to begin the season, including two on the road. There are plenty of things to like about the Herd’s performance thus far, specifically from individual players. With that said, here are three takeaways from the Wisconsin Herd’s perfect 3-0 start.
Tremont Waters looks like an early MVP candidate for the Wisconsin Herd
Waters, the LSU alum, has been a massive difference-maker in the backcourt for the Herd during their red hot start.
Waters has been shooting at an incredibly high clip, and his stats certainly jump off the sheet. In three games, Waters has notched nearly 21 points per contest. Beyond the arc, Waters has tallied a 58.8 percent 3-point percentage in the early stages of the season. Attempting 12 shots a game, the guard has hit seven shots on average, leading to an incredible 59.5 field goal percentage. Needless to say, Waters has been red hot from the field to give the Herd some life early on as he continues lighting it up.
With the Herd’s other point guard, Justin Robinson, spending time at the NBA level for the depleted Bucks, Waters has carried the role as Wisconsin’s lead facilitator. Waters has shown a masterful ability to find his teammates for easy baskets as he leads the team with nearly seven assists. Furthermore, Waters has flashes of excellence on the defensive end as he has secured an average of two steals on the season. In all facets of the game, Waters has been a shining star for the Herd.
Waters has been one of the most important contributors to the Herd’s 3-0 start. Whether it be his ability to find his teammates, his solid defense, or his red hot shooting, Waters has been an incredible facilitator for Wisconsin. As the season progresses, keep an eye on him as he will certainly continue to be a key contributor at the point guard position.
