Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing MVP frontrunner-esque basketball for the Milwaukee Bucks right now

There are few words to describe how well Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently playing this year. The Bucks’ slow start and below-par record have hindered his chances in the way-too-early NBA MVP race, but it will be hard to ignore him for much longer if the Greek Freak continues playing at such a high level every single night.

Antetokounmpo was remarkable against Detroit by scoring 33 points while shooting an efficient 12-of-17 from the field. Considering he was just 1-of-4 from 3-point range, the two-time MVP was virtually unstoppable from inside the arc offensively as he consistently powered his way in and scored the ball. When he was met with a foul, Antetokounmpo looked calm as ever as he hit 8-of-10 on his free throw attempts. Always love to see him having an extremely efficient night at the free throw line.

In addition to his prolific scoring night, Antetokounmpo stuffed the stat sheet as he finished with seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocked shots. He simply does everything there is to do out on the basketball court, and his effort level is always turned to the maximum. While fans do not need proof of that, check out this highlight below where Antetokounmpo chased down Saban Lee on a fastbreak and pinned his shot against the backboard. After initially being called for a foul on the play, the Bucks challenged the call, which proved successful.

After leading the Bucks on this five-game winning streak while playing some remarkable ball, Antetokounmpo’s name will likely shoot up those MVP trackers in no time. While everyone is rightfully focused on the big prize down the line and not an individual award, this is to highlight just how well the Greek Freak has been playing over this homestand.
