3 reasons why the Milwaukee Bucks should trade for Myles Turner
The Milwaukee Bucks could use youth at the center position
Lopez is currently 33 years old and will turn 34 in April before the regular season wraps up. Turner is currently only 25 years old and will turn 26 in March. With Lopez not getting any younger and undergoing that back surgery, the Bucks might think about getting younger at the center position.
With Antetokounmpo agreeing to a supermax last December, Jrue Holiday being extended during last season, Khris Middleton signed through 2024 pending a player option, and Grayson Allen being extended earlier this season the Bucks have four starters locked in for potentially three more seasons. With Lopez under contract for one more season after this, his future is up in the air. Turner is set to make $17.5 million this season and in the 2022-23 season. Trading for Turner and potentially extending him could lock up a dominant starting five on both sides of the ball until the 2023-24 season and keep their championship window wide open for the foreseeable future.
The signing of Demarcus Cousins can also aid in the Bucks getting younger at center because instead of having centers that are 34 and 31 going into the playoffs, the Bucks would have Cousins at 31 and Turner at 26. A younger option would give coach Mike Budenholzer a better idea of managing minutes throughout the year and into the postseason.
