Robert Covington would bring more 3-point shooting to the Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are always looking to shore up their outside shooting. They have fully bought into the NBA’s 3-point revelation since coach Mike Budenholzer took the reigns, emphasizing an offense that surrounds superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo with perimeter shooters. It has proven to be a winning formula for the defending champs, and someone like Covington would fit right in as they look to keep it consistent.

Covington has been a solid high-volume outside shooter throughout his career, knocking down an efficient 35.7 percent of his triples on 6.3 attempts per game. Though he is having a down year by knocking down 33.3 percent of his triples, tying a previous career-low, there is no denying that he has helped carve out a role in this league due to his prolific ability to space the floor. That shooting would make him an easy plug-in for Milwaukee offensively.

It is evident that playing alongside Antetokounmpo has helped shooters thrive once they play for the Bucks. Bryn Forbes, Jrue Holiday, and Bobby Portis posted career-bests in 3-point percentage last season in Milwaukee, while Grayson Allen is currently having a breakout campaign in his first season with the Bucks due to some electric shooting. Players suddenly find their stride from deep because of the endless open looks they get playing next to such a force like Antetokounmpo. This would be the case with Covington, who is not bashful about letting it fly.

The Bucks currently boast the seventh-best 3-point percentage in the league this year, but that will not stop them from scouring the market for more. That is just one way Covington would help this team if they pulled off a deal for him.
