Updated Milwaukee Bucks’ trade deadline targets – Mohamed Bamba

As the Bucks await news on Lopez’s potential return this season, one trade target that could help keep them afloat in the meantime is Mohamed Bamba. The Orlando Magic center has been linked to trade rumors over the past few months, with B/R’s Jake Fischer recently reporting that the big man is available on the trade market.

Looking at potential backup centers for Milwaukee to target, there are few better options for them than Bamba. The 23-year-old has asserted himself as an elite shot-blocker this season, averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. Without Lopez, who is known as one of the best shot-blocking centers in the association, Bamba would fit right in defensively to protect the rim.

The biggest question marks in any deal for Bamba revolve around Milwaukee’s pathway to making a deal work. Fischer noted in his reporting that the Magic are seeking a first round pick in exchange for the former sixth overall pick, which could be problematic for the asset-deprived Bucks. Yet, he also notes that Orlando may ultimately settle for two second round picks instead, which would be much more doable for Milwaukee’s front office.

To take on the remaining money on Bamba’s $7.6 million this season, the Bucks would have to make some tough decisions. Once again, a package including DiVincenzo and Ojeleye works from a financial perspective, but it is questionable if the Magic would accept. Perhaps if the Bucks attach a pair of second rounders they could get the wheels turning in any potential talks. Whatever ends up being the case, Bamba would be a justifiable target for the depleted Bucks.
