Assessing The Athletic’s Robert Covington trade for Milwaukee Bucks

The verdict on The Athletic’s Robert Covington trade for Milwaukee Bucks
If the Blazers are willing to accept, this is a deal that the Bucks should pounce on. Covington would be a solid trade deadline acquisition to make Milwaukee more formidable on impact. His defensive presence would make him a key piece on this roster, particularly in the playoffs. Having a 6-foot-7 multi-time All-Defensive honoree would be useful when the Bucks face off against the top wings in this league.
He would genuinely be a seamless fit on this roster. His defensive expertise has been hammered home, but he is no slouch offensively either. The 31-year-old has knocked down 35.8 percent of his career 3-points on 6.2 attempts on average, and high volume shooting like that would help him get accustomed quickly under head coach Mike Budenholzer. The Bucks are always in the hunt for more outside shooting, particularly when they can play outstanding defense as well.
It might be tough to imagine a four-for-one player deal between the Bucks and Blazers coming to fruition. Yet, people were skeptical that Horst could pull off a trade for Tucker before last season’s trade deadline, and he managed to get it done. If anything, the former Executive of the Year has earned the benefit of the doubt, and if Milwaukee’s interest in Covington is still smoldering, it is quite reasonable to believe he will make a strong push.
