The Milwaukee Bucks should monitor Ben McLemore in the buyout market following Pat Connaughton’s injury

As the Portland Trail Blazers look to retool their roster, HoopsHype’s Yossi Gozlan pitched the idea that they could possibly waive Ben McLemore if the team continues to struggle. In that case, the Bucks would likely be among the teams interested in adding the 29-year-old guard, given that they were one of the teams that pursued him after he was bought out by the Rockets last year.

McLemore would help the Bucks by bringing more perimeter shooting to the table with one of the best shooters on the roster currently sidelined. The veteran is knocking down 37.8 percent of his triples on 6.1 attempts per contest this season, the second-most in his NBA career. Hot shooting like that would help the Bucks tremendously right now by giving them another sparkplug off the bench that could fit seamlessly in most lineups.

The Bucks could hypothetically use McLemore in the same role that they gave to Kyle Korver and Bryn Forbes during their time with the franchise. Essentially, that means Budenholzer would most frequently pair that player with Antetokounmpo and urge them to let it fly from three whenever an opportunity was there. A high-volume shooter like McLemore could undoubtedly thrive in that role with Milwaukee, but they must first wait and see if he gets bought out of it Portland will keep him.
