The Milwaukee Bucks should monitor Kent Bazemore in the buyout market following Pat Connaughton’s injury

The Athletic’s Jovan Buha and Bill Oram (subscription required) reported prior to the deadline that the Los Angeles Lakers dumping DeAndre Jordan or Kent Bazemore’s contract was on LA’s to-do list. They did not find any takers via trade, and the writers note that the Lakers could waive one of them to make room for other players in the buyout market. If that player is Bazemore, the Bucks could take a look at him to add wing depth.

Having fallen completely out of LA’s rotation, Bazemore desperately needs a fresh start on a new team, and perhaps there would be no better place than where his former coach resides. The guard played the best basketball of his career under Budenholzer in Atlanta, and reuniting could be what Bazemore needs to get back on track. The veteran could give the Bucks a solid wing defender and a passable 3-point shooter.

While he is far from the flashiest target for the defending champions, Bazemore would be a very low-risk move to add some temporary depth. If he does indeed get bought out and is looking for another place to play, the Bucks would be wise to at least kick the tires on bringing him in if the buyout market does not materialize into anything robust.

Stay tuned to see how the Milwaukee Bucks may respond to Connaughton’s tough injury.
