The Milwaukee Bucks could consider Isaiah Thomas for a 10-day deal

This one is sure to be somewhat controversial, but the Bucks have shown interest in point guard Isaiah Thomas in the past, and perhaps that could lead to them doing so again. Following a trade for P.J. Tucker last season, the Bucks reportedly had some interest in signing the former All-Star, but they eventually went with Jeff Teague instead. Needing help in the backcourt, Thomas could be the answer until reinforcements arrive for the defending champions.

Thomas has played on 10-day deals with both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks in 2021-22, getting another shot in the league. Having appeared in a combined five games, Thomas averaged 8.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, and two assists in 22.8 minutes per game. His efficiency was far from great, shooting just 31.9 percent from the floor and 20 percent from behind the arc, but the veteran did show some flashes here and there.

As a temporary backup, Thomas could be passable for Milwaukee, giving them an experienced vet that has proven to be a lethal scorer and can handle the ball. His defense is not outstanding, but in a minimized role, the team would not be banking on him to be excellent on that side of things. If he could come in and handle the basketball to alleviate hefty minutes from Holiday while knocking in a few 3-pointers or handing out an occasional assist, this would be a reasonable signing.

Thomas is currently back in the G-League playing for the Grand Rapids Gold after his stints with the Lakers and Mavericks and could be on the lookout for his next opportunity. On a 10-day deal, this would be a low-risk move for the guard-hungry Bucks.
