Giannis Antetokounmpo had another dominant performance for the Milwaukee Bucks

Ho hum, just another absolutely ridiculous game from Giannis Antetokounmpo to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to another win. After scoring 39 points against the Thunder, he followed it up with 42 points in this one.

I mentioned in the preview for this game that Antetokounmpo had been held in check for the most part against the Hawks this season, but particularly against Onyeka Okongwu.

Antetokounmpo had been shooting 45.5 percent on 2-point field goals in the two previous games against the Hawks, which was well below his season average of over 60 percent. But, as we’ve seen with Giannis in the past, you give him enough looks at a defense and he’ll figure it out over time.

He shot 14-of-17 inside the arc in the third and final meeting, absolutely dominating in the paint. He got to the line 17 times and put Clint Capela in foul trouble within the first few minutes of the game. It didn’t matter who the Hawks threw at Antetokounmpo, he bodied them and go whatever he wanted.

We also saw a good number of Middleton-Antetokounmpo pick-and-rolls, which led to some very easy baskets against a… less than stellar Hawks defense, to put it nicely. He’s now 232 points away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time scoring leader for the Bucks. He’ll get there this season, pretty easily.
