Reasons the Milwaukee Bucks should start Brook Lopez: #2 – Bench Scoring

When Brook Lopez returns tonight, shifting Bobby Portis back to the bench and having him come in to feast on second unit defenses would be a big boost for the Milwaukee Bucks. Bobby Portis would give the Bucks a better bench scoring option than Lopez would be and Portis could back up Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lopez. As could Serge Ibaka, who recently started adding some scoring to the Bucks bench.

Factoring in the eventual return of Pat Connaughton, having Portis, Ibaka, and Connaughton on the second unit ensures that there won’t be as much of an offensive letdown as the team has seen in select games. Head coach Mike Budenholzer is sure to mix things up and have the bench guys on the floor with the starters often but bringing Portis and his 15.5 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game in on the second unit would bring a big boost for the Bucks bench that is currently 28th in the NBA.
