The Milwaukee Bucks will need their “other guys” to step up once again

Yeah it was the Washington Wizards and sure, Jrue Holiday played, but for the most part, it was still very encouraging to see that the role players stepped up and won a game without two of their stars.

Whether all three are back together tonight or not, the Milwaukee Bucks will still need some good performances from their role players once again.

Grayson Allen had his first 20-point game since mid-December and showed, yet again, that he’s capable of being more than just a spot-up shooter or someone to just take catch-and-shoot 3s. I know it’s not going to happen, but I’d really like to see him get more drawn up for him at times when one or two of the stars are off the floor. But this big-time scoring performance is what makes him such a fascinating player down the stretch and into the playoffs.

And hey, how about that bench! After all the smack that was talked about them, hot damn, they had a fantastic game as a collective. Aside from Jordan Nwora’s goose egg, they combined for 48 points on nearly 86 percent true shooting.

Pat Connaughton continues to look like himself after returning from injury, averaging 15 points and shooting nearly 46 percent from deep on eight attempts per game. His return has been a huge spark for the Bucks’ depth scoring and it’s great to see that his finger isn’t affecting him.

The bench and how many guys are going to be in the rotation come playoff time has been on my mind quite a bit since the Bucks added Jevon Carter and seeing how well he’s played since then. This stretch has been almost like an audition period and each member is making a strong case to be in the rotation.

Tonight, against a very good opponent, will be yet another test for the Bucks’ emerging supporting case.
