Early look at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Giannis Immortality 2 from Nike
By Dalton Sell
There are currently a mere five NBA players that have signature shoes with Nike, and they are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Paul George, and, of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee Bucks star is currently on the third shoe in his signature line, the Zoom Freak 3, but he also has a take-down model, the Giannis Immortality.
The first iteration of his take-down line received positive reviews after releasing last year, and it can often be found on NBA courts nightly by a handful of players. One player who has rocked the shoes consistently is Antetokounmpo’s own teammate Grayson Allen, who is lighting it up in these shoes as the Milwaukee Bucks are in a hard-fought playoff battle with the Chicago Bulls.
With the first receiving strong reviews, the next installment in the Giannis Immortality line will be coming to shelves soon as the Giannis Immortality 2 is set to release at some point this year.
First look at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Giannis Immortaility 2 shoe with Nike
The first official images of the Giannis Immortality 2 were recently released, and it started with this eye-catching White/Barely Volt/Grey Fog colorway. Sneaker News went into more detail about the shoe by stating: “the sequel to the Giannis Immortality brings with it an all-new upper design with an enlarged reverse Swoosh — a signature detail of his first signature shoe. The upper is built with an Engineered Mesh and synthetic leather blend, while the outsole is carried over the last model.”
Immediately, many will draw comparisons to the original Giannis Immortality. Aside from the enlarged reverse swoosh, the two look incredibly similar, which is certainly not a problem, given the shoe’s sleek low-cut design and performance. The reverse swoosh is a call-back to the first shoe in Antetokounmpo’s signature line, the Zoom Freak 1, which was released back in 2019 and featured a massive backward swoosh. Antetokounmpo wears those shoes to this day, so seeing that design on this shoe is a nice little nod.
Shortly after these first-look images were released, another vibrant colorway of the upcoming Giannis Immortality 2 was revealed to the public. This bright blue and crimson with a hint of lime green colorway will certainly catch some attention out on the floor. For those looking to stand out, this may be the shoe for you.
There is no confirmed release date for the Giannis Immortality 2, but they are expected to release sometime later this year in the summer or the fall. The price is also not confirmed, but considering it is a take-down model and that the first installment ran for $80, it seems feasible to believe that this second sneaker in the Giannis Immortality line will run for a similar price upon release. Though not everyone will love these first two colorways, there are bound to be more official looks coming sooner rather than later.
Given just how much he loves those Zoom Freak 1s, it would be hard to imagine the Greek Freak breaking the Giannis Immortality 2 out in the NBA Playoffs, but who knows.
Stay tuned for more updates surrounding the release date and other colorways regarding the Giannis Immortality 2 from Nike.
