3 former Milwaukee Bucks for the team to pursue in free agency
The Milwaukee Bucks could bring back Bryn Forbes in free agency
How about a member of the championship team to bring some of those good vibes back? Bryn Forbes was the hero of Milwaukee’s first-round sweep over the Miami Heat and he’ll be loved by Bucks fans forever because of that.
Forbes departed in free agency last year to return to the San Antonio Spurs where he spent the first four years of his career on a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
In 40 games with San Antonio, Forbes averaged 9.1 points and shot 41.7 percent from 3 on nearly four attempts per game. He was then traded to the Denver Nuggets to help with their playoff push and was a great fit alongside two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. Forbes averaged 8.6 points and shot 41 percent from deep on 4.1 attempts in 35 games with the Nuggets.
He also played in all five of Denver’s playoff games, averaging over 15 minutes, 4.0 points, and shooting 36.4 percent from 3. It wasn’t the flamethrower series that he had against Miami, but still respectable for a role player.
Forbes didn’t play a ton after that first-round series because of his defensive limitations but he would still be a good fit back on the Bucks especially if they decide to move on from Grayson Allen to bring in someone else with that salary spot in a trade.
Allen filled the Forbes role better than Forbes did because of Allen’s superior ball-handling and ability to get to the rim. However, he went cold in the series against the Boston Celtics and was still a weak point defensively.
If the Bucks want a cheaper version of that 3-point marksman role but can’t do as much offensively and is worse defensively, then Forbes would certainly be an option. The Nuggets did love Forbes, though, so we’ll see if he returns there.
All three former Milwaukee Bucks would be able to fill a role that the team needs and should be available for a reasonable price so keep an eye out for any potential reunions this offseason.
