Milwaukee Bucks: Ranking the 5 best players drafted at 24th overall
Ranking the 5 best players drafted 24th overall: #2 – Kyle Lowry (MEM)
One massive pain in the side for the Bucks in recent years and the greatest player in a franchise’s history, Kyle Lowry may not be the most talented but he has turned in one hell of a potential Hall of Fame career since being taken by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006.
I have a special place in my heart for Lowry since I’m from Toronto so I’ve been able to see his peak up close and how he helped transform the Raptors franchise from a laughing stock to a championship through some tough years.
Before his trade to Toronto, Lowry was just a fine starter that was getting the reputation as being a bit tough to deal with. Well, that all changed when he became a Raptor. In 601 games with Toronto, Lowry averaged 17.5 points on 57.6 percent true shooting, 4.9 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.5 steals. The numbers don’t bear out his leadership, toughness, and other intangible qualities he brought with him as well.
He’s a six-time All-Star, one-time All-NBA selection (probably should be more, if we’re being honest), and a champ.
It would be very unlikely but the Bucks being able to add a culture-setter and leader like Lowry to their team in this draft would be a home run. That’s not even touching being able to add a great defender, shooter, and passer as Lowry’s been. We’re reaching the absolute high end of what this pick could turn into.
