Following an up and down 2021-22 season, the Milwaukee Bucks will look to tackle some of their noticeable roster flaws this offseason.
As they look to retool the roster, a name that has been frequently linked to Milwaukee by fans is Kelly Oubre Jr., the 26-year-old forward from Kansas. Oubre just wrapped up a quality season as a member of the Charlotte Hornets, and perhaps he could be on Milwaukee’s radar. After all, he was linked to them in free agency last offseason, as SNY’s Ian Begley reported that the Bucks showed some level of interest in signing the former first round pick. Oubre ultimately went to Charlotte on a two-year deal, and perhaps Milwaukee could check in on his availability this offseason.
If the Bucks and Hornets were discussing an Oubre trade, Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale proposed a package that could help the two sides get a deal done.
Bleacher Report’s proposed Kelly Oubre trade between the Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets
The trade itself is rather simple, as it involves one player from each side and a second round pick. Both Milwaukee and Charlotte would swap expiring contracts in this exchange, with Brook Lopez and his $13.9 million contract heading to Charlotte alongside a future second round pick while an intriguing small forward in Oubre and his $12.6 million deal makes its way to the 414. For most, this is likely a love it or hate it trade, as it involves some key pieces from both sides. With all that said, let us take a closer look at the trade by assessing each team’s point of view and a verdict as to whether the Bucks would ultimately make the deal this coming offseason.
