3 underrated trade targets for the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason

The NBA off-season proves to be one of the most exciting stretches for true basketball fans year in and year out. Seeing players find new homes via free agency and trade is always thrilling. After falling short of back-to-back titles, there are a few areas that the Milwaukee Bucks will need to address here in the summer.

Whether that’s acquiring a new piece, resigning players, or making a sound selection at pick 24, Jon Horst has a decent-sized to-do list to tackle. There have been a lot of trade rumors following Milwaukee’s Game 7 letdown in Boston, but the Bucks don’t have a ton of flexibility salary-wise. Milwaukee would have to look at dealing off guys who contribute in order to receive the caliber players we are seeing in trade rumors. Next, we will be taking a look at 3 underrated trade targets, and you probably have not heard these names tossed around much, but with the proper deal, these guys could land in Milwaukee and make a smooth and steady impact off the bat. It would take flexibility and patience to acquire these players, but there are ways to make it happen.

Luguentz Dort could be an underrated trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks

Entering his fourth year in the league, OKC Thunder small forward Lu Dort has had an interesting path to success early in his career.

Dort went from undrafted G league player to an NBA starter in every game he was available this season as he put up 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and almost a steal a game. Dort offers tenacious play on both ends and has been one of the bright spots for the Thunder recently. Dort is entering the fourth year of his four-year contract worth $5.4 million and there have been some rumors of a contract extension surrounding him, but Oklahoma City has the team option heading into the 2022-2023 season. If he is not offered an extension and Milwaukee can make a trade for him, it would be simple for the Bucks to make it work money-wise.

Obviously, the Thunder value Dort, so we would have to send off some valuable pieces to make it work, and there is no guarantee Sam Presti would be enticed by our offers, but it is certainly worth a try. Packaging Grayson Allen or Pat Connaughton with draft picks or a young player could get the wheels going on this trade. Playing with a team like the Bucks, Lu Dort would have a lot of opportunities from three-point distance playing in Milwaukee’s offense and around the stars we have, but the most convenient part about acquiring Dort would be his hounding defense, which is always a plus to have on your team.
