Milwaukee Bucks Draft Scouting Report: Nikola Jovic – Strengths
Open Floor Ability
Nikola Jovic thrives in the open floor as a shot creator for both himself and others. He is a skilled ball handler who can get to the basket with long strides, good footwork, and the ability to change pace effectively. He can get into his shot or make plays for others, and with his length and ball handling, he will be very good in the open floor. He loves getting out in transition and leading the break.
Pick-and-Roll Ability
Jovic has a lot of versatility out of the pick-and-roll and can really be used as a point-forward at 6’10”. As mentioned, he can handle the ball well, and out of the pick-and-roll he can be a matchup nightmare with his ability to pass out of doubles, get to the paint, get into his jumper against drop coverage, and use his size advantage against a switch. There are several ways he can beat you, and he really has a good feel for the game and tends to make a lot of the right plays when he has the ball in his hands.
Defensive Potential
With his size and basketball IQ, Jovic definitely can be a solid defender. He has shown flashes of defensive versatility and being able to guard in space, and with time and experience he has the potential to become a nice defender who can guard multiple positions. Teams definitely will need to be patient with him, though.
